What
is ad blocker?
Ad blocker is the program that blocks ads
in pages you are visiting or app you are using. There are some separate
application that blocks annoying ads. You can use plugins or extensions on your
browsers as well. These blocks ads
showing to visitors in websites. Which reduces revenue coming
from ad programs like adsense, admob etc. But ad blockers doesn't filter
whitelisted ads.
Positive Aspects:
If you are using high price data pack and
data saving is your concern then you should definitely use it. Blocking ads
saves your data. You are safe from Spam ads and links. You will no longer be
victim of continuous redirected to spam links. Adblocker also prevent tracking you. Using it means You are not being tracked now. Privacy does matter to you
right?
Since unnecessary scripts are not required
to execute it makes faster loading. Also there will be no flicker, no popup, no sound, no disturbance. Which lets you focus
in main business.
Negative Aspects:
Blocking ads means blocking their earning. You
are not helping creators. Just letting ads show up could have encouraged and
motivated them to create more qualitative contents. You are consuming their content free of cost.
Not appreciating their hard work is morally wrong right?
If you are using ad blocker you might not
get enjoy the full feature. You will have Limited access or might not get access
at all. Ad blocker itself might track your browsing activity. In addition, big
advertising houses pay a lot to list their ads as allowed whitelists. So
effectiveness and reliability of ad blocker
itself is questionable.
Should I use ad blockers then? If you ask me, I would say -yes! There is a famous quote by Voltaire.
"Think for yourself and let others enjoy the privilege of doing so too"
You’ll be on the safer
side, and in time, content creators will find alternative ways to continue
their work. After all, survival and existence are the rewards for adapting to a
dynamic environment. If you still feel bad for them, you can always support and
donate directly through various platforms. It’s important to remember that the
digital world is constantly evolving, and both creators and consumers have the
power to shape it. There are always ways to find a balance between supporting
creators and protecting your own privacy. Ultimately, it’s about making
conscious choices that align with your values. As long as we all respect each
other’s needs and perspectives, we can continue to thrive in this
interconnected space.
