Being a Flower or follower?

About 3.7 K species of plants are there on the Earth which is flowering. Showy flowers, nectar and pleasant scent are the traits of phanerogam, they use to attract other organisms. Red, yellow and blue are the vibrant color the pollinators, get attracted with. The color of flower changes in some species like pink to blue, red to pale dark and so on. This usually indicates to insects, the flower has aged and is past pollination, so move on.

White colored flowers are relatively less attractive and more common. But again they have managed to make their existence and rule the whole population. Most of the wind pollinating major crops has white and dark flowers. These don’t invest resources in attracting for pollinating like large petals, nectars and scents. But interestingly, Night visitors like moth prefer white and Night opening flowers.

There is no blue color pigment in plants. So don’t have direct way of making blue color. This is why blue flowers are the rarest flowers. Birds and insects can widely detect blue because of wavelength. Relatively few blue colored flowers don’t deter pollinators. In fact blue flowers are often the most rewarding flowers.

Although, beauty lies in the eye of beholders, content does make some difference. Being common is not certainly a huge transgression but filling up artificiality and imitating real one really is. Be a flower of any kind. Don’t let followers decide how you should look like. Bloom for the sake of own.
